Hongdae, where many young Koreans go! Today, I’d like to introduce you to Hongdae!!
You’ve heard of Hongdae a lot, right? What comes to your mind first when you think of Hongdae? When it comes to Hongdae, it’s definitely a good restaurant!! There are many things to play besides restaurants!! Trust me and let’s go to Hongdae tour!!

Where is Hongdae : many young Koreans go!

Hongdae refers to the area connecting Hongdae Station on Seoul Subway Line 2 in Mapo-gu, Seoul and the main gate of Hongik University, and the downtown area in this area. Hongdae is a Korean abbreviation for Hongik University, and it is not an official place name in this area, but a common name, and is also called Hongdae Entrance and Hongdae Street to distinguish it from Hongik University.

“Hongdae Front Culture,” which began in the early 1990s with the establishment of distinctive cafes, formed a unique culture of “Hongdae Front” in the mid-1990s with live clubs such as Drunk, Blue Devil, and Jammers, and indie bands such as Crying Nut, Delhi Spice, and Hwang Shin-hye bands. The street between Hongik University’s main gate and Far East Broadcasting Station is home to a variety of bars and live clubs specializing in punk rock and techno music, also called the street of underground culture.

Characteristics of Hongdae : many young Koreans go!

  1. Indie music
It is still a sacred place for indie music. Numerous indie musicians who play various genres of music are repeatedly created and disappeared. As such, there are many performance halls, and on the last Friday of every month, there was an event called Club Day where these clubs joined together. It ended in 2011 due to profitability issues, but has been revived every month since 2015.

However, some small concerted performances still seem to be in place. Mainly, crazy dance clubs are excluded and several concert halls are gathered to hold it. Since February 2015, live club day, which inherited the existing club day, is being held on the last Friday of every month. Participating live clubs are live clubs belonging to the Live Club Cooperative, including Sangsang Madang, V Hall, Prism Hall, Freebird 2-Big Bird, Club FF, Club Tta, Gogos 2, Evans, Evans Lounge, and Beloju. If you are curious about Korean indie music and want to listen to it, but don’t know anything, you can go to the street in front of Hongdae on the last Friday of every month.

There may be differences in taste that may or may not be better than popular singers’ songs, but they are often accessible at relatively low costs. If you have an indie band you’re interested in, I recommend you watch a live performance as well. You don’t know unless you feel it for yourself. Even if you don’t know the team well, it’s unlikely that you’ll lose if you match the genre you’re interested in. Even if it’s not necessarily because of music taste, there are many people who go to see the performance because the atmosphere of the bands performing hard is good.

As mentioned above, there are many small concert halls, so the concert halls of amateurs and underground musicians are usually around here. The concept of management is also insufficient, so it is also attractive that it is easy to make personal acquaintances such as waiting at the back door after the performance and talking in person or getting autographs. Of course, it is rude to talk for a long time because you must be tired after the performance. Rather, there are times when you come out in front of the main gate to get some air before the performance starts, and you can aim for this time. Handmade traditional markets and flea markets that are held irregularly can be seen for free. In addition, there are teams that hold small outdoor performances at the park every evening. In fact, the music played by a team called 10CM is a sophisticated adaptation of the music used in this playground.

In particular, the wall of the playground bathroom in Hongdae is one of the main graffiti spots. In addition, there are many murals in each alley, so Hongdae Alley is also called Hongdae Mural Street.

  1. Academy of Arts for the entrance examination
Hongik University has been a prestigious art university since ancient times, so in front of Hongdae, there are art studios, art exhibition halls, and large and small cram schools. Some academies run big buses, but that’s the case with really big academies, and most of them use public transportation. Instead, the academy association operates home buses.

As art academies are near universities with prestigious art colleges, most of them are related to entrance examination art or entrance examination cartoons. So, after the CSAT ends and the regular preparation period begins, students from all over the country can be seen. In addition to the art college entrance examination academy, there are entrance exams for art middle schools and art high schools, transfer to art colleges, and study abroad art academies.

Do you know about four major insurances policies in Korea?

Have you ever heard of the word "four major insurances"?If you've watched news and TV a lot while living in Korea, you've probably heard it at least once. But what's the big four insurance policies? Does it matter to foreigners?I'll tell you more about the four major insurances today. What are the four major insurances? Korea's four major insurances refer to all four insurances directly managed by the government to ensure a stable economic life for the people from social risks. In Korea, people with income, companies, and institutions are required to pay four major insurances! It's a mandatory subscription insurance that all workers must sign up for, regardless of whether they are interns, non-regular workers, or regular workers!Foreigners also have to pay four major insurances if they work for a Korean company! When you look at job postings on recruitment sites, there are often the same conditions as "four major insurances included." Some companies offer four major insurances instead, or some companies have such conditions, such as 50%. What are the four major insurances? The four major insurances include national pension, national health insurance, employment insurance, and industrial accident compensation insurance. In the case of international students, if they live in Korea for more than six months, they are obligated to pay national health insurance every month. If you get a job in Korea, you have to pay the national pension, employment insurance, and industrial accident compensation insurance in addition to the national health insurance. Then what kind of benefits do you think each insurance provides? The four major insurances don't usually get any benefits right away, but they can get benefits depending on the conditions of the insurance the national pension The National Pension Service pays 4.5% of its monthly salary as an insurance premium almost every year. The national pension, which is later paid for retirement, is a system created in preparation for not being able to work if a worker retires after a certain age. In other words, when you retire later, you have the amount you can get every month, and that amount will be returned to the National Pension Service we paid for! employment insurance It is a system created for...
