In 1948, the stage of the project was expanded from Yeongnam to the metropolitan area, and in November of the same year, Samsung C&T Corporation was established in Jongno 2-ga, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Since then, the trade industry has been revitalized in earnest, and in 1950, the business has flourished so much that it became the No. 1 domestic trade industry. In January 1951, the company changed its name to Samsung C&T Co., Ltd. to further revitalize its trade business.

Other than Samsung Group and Samsung Electronics, which are currently in Korea, they were founded by Chairman Lee Byung-chul from the beginning, but they passed them on to their children, and now they are famous and big companies in Korea. CJ-Jailjedang, which is known by the most people, was also an affiliate of Samsung. The chairman of CJ Group is the grandson of Samsung Group founder Lee Byung-chul. Samsung also has an automobile company. Founded in 1995, due to accumulating deficits, Renault of France took over assets and liquidated them in 2000. And the famous Shinsegae belongs to Samsung, too! Other than that, JoongAng Ilbo is also a newspaper company founded by Lee Byung-chul on September 22, 1965.

Samsung’s main business is semiconductor business and bio business!
Samsung Group’s business divisions are largely divided into electronics (Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS), bio (Samsung Biologics), heavy industry (Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung Engineering), construction (Samsung C&T Construction), finance (Samsung Fire, Samsung Card, Samsung Securities, Samsung Asset Management), and service (Samsung C&T Resort, Hotel Shilla). Contrary to what many people think, Samsung is famous for its semiconductor business, not a company that has grown from cell phone sales. Korea’s semiconductor exports have been the first in the world, and Samsung Electronics is the first among export companies. Besides semiconductors, bio is also Samsung Group’s main business.

Smart TV
One of the big features in the TV sector is the change from ‘watching TV’ to ‘enjoying TV’. Consumers who have previously watched TV passively want to choose more active and diverse content on their own. Understanding this demand, Samsung launched an Internet TV in 2007 to allow users to enjoy real-time Internet information while watching TV. It is also developing a so-called “smart LED TV” that can download applications. It led the market with ‘Power Infolink’ in 2008 and ‘Internet@TV’, which was renewed with widget features in 2009. In addition to existing Internet services such as news, weather, securities, UCC, and movies, users can download and use applications of Samsung Apps, the world’s first multi-device application store, with the launch of 3D TV in 2010. Samsung Apps plans to provide local content services specialized by country to consumers as paid premium services will be expanded to Europe next year, starting with Korea and the United States from the second half of 2010.
3D TV
Samsung Electronics is solidifying its market leadership by selling 1 million units of 3D TVs within six months of its launch. This is close to the global demand for 3D TVs predicted by market research institutes in early 2010. It is also developing 3D TVs that do not require glasses.Samsung Electronics has also released a 3D home theater (HT-C6950W) that allows users to enjoy 3D stereoscopic images and premium stereoscopic sound at the same time. Samsung Electronics says it has built a ‘3D total solution’ that encompasses not only 3D TVs but also 3D Blu-ray players, 3D contents, and 3D glasses and completed the 3D entertainment environment for the first time in the industry.Samsung Electronics plans to provide 3D content streaming to 3D TVs. Samsung Electronics’ 3D TV, which has its own online app store, allows users to download programs such as Hulu Plus and Napster directly to the TV’s hard drive. Samsung App Store will also add premium content that allows developers to actually make money from new app platforms. It also plans to provide 3D content through the App Store.
