Red Day is of course an exciting and pleasant day, but why is the Korean government doing this? Is it designated as a public holiday? Let’s find out what it means with me
Summary of Korea’s Rest Days in 2023

January 1st New Year’s Day
Happy New Year, don’t you need another word?
January 21st to 24th, Lunar New Year
“Magpie’s Lunar New Year was yesterday. Our Lunar New Year is today.”
It’s a day when a large family gathers, exchanges words of blessing, and most of all, “New Year’s greetings.” From what I’ve seen so far, children will like this day after Children’s Day. Because I send New Year’s greetings to my family elders and receive New Year’s cash gifts.

March 1st, March 1st
This is the National Day of the Republic of Korea, and on March 1, 1919, during the Japanese colonial period, it was the day of the declaration of Korea’s independence against Japanese imperialism
In other words, it’s called the “Mansae Movement” and it’s estimated that 2 million people participated in it!

May 5th is Children’s Day
It is a day created by Bang Jung-hwan, a Korean independence merit, to awaken the national spirit to children through the Nilo 3.1 Movement

May 27th. Buddha’s birthday
It’s the day when Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, came

It is a day to commemorate soldiers who sacrificed for their country during the Korean War

August 15th National Liberation Day
On August 15, 1945, I was liberated from Japanese imperialism and restored my national sovereignty, and 3 years later, I established the Korean government!
In the Republic of Korea, the process of liberation on August 15, 1945, restoring national sovereignty, and establishing the Korean government on August 15, 1948, is also named and commemorated as Liberation. It is one of the representative celebrations of the Republic of Korea, where celebrations are held nationwide and the president delivers congratulatory speeches. In the case of broadcasters, special programs on Korea-Japan relations, Japanese colonial era, and the history of the independence movement will be aired.

September 28th and 30th, Chuseok
Chuseok is Korea’s representative holiday. Simply put, harvest grain, pray for a good harvest next year, and hold a memorial service for ancestors
October 3rd National Foundation Day
If you look at Dangun mythology, it’s the day when Dangun Wanggeom founded Gojoseon.
National Foundation Day (開節로) is a national holiday of the Republic of Korea, meaning “the day when the sky is open” and commemorating Gojoseon, the first country in the history of the Korean Peninsula. The date is October 3, which is designated as a legal holiday in Korea. It was originally celebrated on October 3 of the lunar calendar, but now it has been changed to October 3 of the Gregorian calendar.

October 9th, Hangul Day
In 1446, King Sejong proclaimed Heungmin Jeongeum, or Hangeul, at the dinner
In commemoration of the distribution of Hunminjeongeum, it is celebrated on October 9 every year as an anniversary to promote the originality and science of Hangeul and raise awareness of love for Hangeul. As of 2023, it is a legal holiday, and it is the fifth national holiday, so the Taegeukgi must be hoisted.
On Hangeul Day, various events with the theme of Hangeul are held all over the country, and foreign characterization of corporate brands and CI are sometimes changed to Hangeul. In addition, although the letter “Hangul” and the language “Pure Korean Language” are different concepts, campaigns are being conducted to use local pure Korean words that are not written in other characters such as Chinese characters or Roman characters. The unit for counting the anniversary of Hangeul Day is also marked as “several stones” rather than “several anniversaries” or “several times.” Hangul Day in 2023 is the 576th anniversary.

December 25th, Christmas
It’s a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ But this day is a bit special. Because I spend time with precious people such as family, lovers, and friends, so I can say that it is close to Family Day!
